Our home port is Comox, centrally located on the East coast of Vancouver Island, between Nanaimo and Campbell River.

Guests aboard the M.V. Oceantide enjoy a host of experiences on and under the untouched waters of the Salish Sea.

The Oceantide is a well founded vessel that meets Transport Canada requirements for safe comfortable onboard experiences.

The Salish Sea one of the world’s largest and biologically rich inland seas, covering 16925 sq. km with 7470 sq. km of coastline, is one of the best boating destinations in the world, with 419 islands and islets, protected bays, anchorages, unexplored beaches showcasing nature at it's best.

The Salish Sea's biologically productive marine ecosystems provides critical habitat for a huge diversity of fish, marine mammals, invertebrates, shorebirds and marine plants.

Coastal Cruising

In 1792 Captain George Vancouver discovered and named the Straits of Georgia, but the Coast Salish peoples being the first inhabitants of the region have a much longer and rich history in the area.

Sheltered anchorages, marine parks, spectacular scenery and protected waters, the Salish Sea ranks among the world’s best sailing and boating locations.

ISLAND EXPLORATION

With hundreds of islands and islets, the Salish Sea is a mecca for those who love to be on, under, or near the ocean.

Cruise, scuba dive, snorkel, walk, explore, relax, and take in the unspoiled beauty that abounds this area.

BEACHCOMBING

Stroll the endless kilometres of beach and rocky shores, search for sea washed shells and driftwood, hunt for treasures the sea yields with the forever changing tides.

Tidal pools, shorelines full of life, endless sandy beaches and after the tide rolls in over the sun- warmed sands, the water's warm enough for swimming.

Wildlife Encounters

The Salish Sea supports thousands of species of marine life and has a wide variety of marine habitats.

Get up close to 37 species of seals, porpoises whales, sea lions and other marine mammals.

For the coastal birdwatcher, the Salish Sea host 172 species of resident and transient seabirds and shorebirds.

Picnics

After the anchor is set, the tender launched, your off to a pristine beach with a full picnic basket in hand.

Sit back, enjoy some fine cuisine, beverages and take in natures show.

Snorkeling Expeditions

During the summer months, when the waters of the Salish Sea are warm, grab a mask, snorkels, fins and if needed a wetsuit.

These reefs are home to many different species and a nursery for numerous subtidal (deeper water) species.

With 500 marine plant species, including 200 varieties of seaweeds and other marine life, your sure to see something new and exciting.

You might be lucky and be swimming with seals or encounter octopus or wolf eel as they forage the reefs.

Scuba Diving

British Columbia is recognized and rated as one of the best diving destinations in the world.

Water temperatures require the use of a drysuit or 7mm wetsuit, but once your geared up, jump in and explore the depths of these fascinating tidal waters.

Share the waters with 247 species of fish and more then 3000 invertebrate species.

Fishing

Offering some of the best fishing waters in the world, try your luck for salmon, halibut, rockfish and lingcod.
